On 03/01/2015, departing from Southampton (UK) to Bremerhaven (DE), she developed a severe list and was intentionally grounded in the Solent.
Her 24 crew and a pilot were subsequently rescued.

She was refloated later that month, and on 10/02/15, Hoegh Osaka departed from Southampton under her own power for Falmouth, Cornwall to be repaired.
She returned to service on 20/02/2015
